Andria & Hogan Sherrow

Executive Director & Director Respectively

Andria and Hogan Sherrow started The Empower Campaign while finishing their graduate work in Uganda in 2004. When Hogan was hired at Ohio University in 2006, they brought Empower with them to Athens. Empower is now on four campuses throughout Ohio, and provides students with a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience, while making a difference in the lives of some of Africa’s most vulnerable children.

Sjanneke Baker

Board Member

Sjanneke Baker is an Intervention Specialist who works with children with learning disabilities in Columbus, Ohio. She obtained her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Education from Ohio University. During her time at OU, she helped found the Empower Campaign OU Student Organization. Sjanneke also coordinated the first Run to Empower 5K in 2008, which launched Empower's capacity to expand into 3 different districts in Uganda. Sjanneke has taught at public schools in Ghana (West Africa) and joined the board of EDUCATE Foundation, Inc. in 2009.

Tugume Kenneth

Empower Kibale Program Coordinator

Tugume Kenneth is the Program Coordinator for Empower Kibale projects. He is a managing officer for Kabarole Tours and Safari's Ltd in Fort Portal, Uganda and a student at Mountains of the Moon University majoring in Social and Community Development.
